All about ARFID

Hello and welcome to my blog! At CM Nutrition, I am dedicated to providing expert nutritional support and guidance for individuals dealing with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) and other eating disorders. Based in Fitzroy, Melbourne, I offer both face-to-face and telehealth consultations to ensure that my services are accessible to everyone who needs them.

Understanding ARFID

ARFID is a complex eating disorder characterised by restrictive eating patterns that can significantly impact a person's health and quality of life. Unlike other eating disorders, ARFID is not typically associated with concerns about body image or weight. Instead, individuals with ARFID often have an aversion to certain foods based on their texture, smell, taste, or past negative experiences with eating. However, this isn't to say you won't struggle with body image along the way.

My mission at CM Nutrition is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each individual. I understand that living with ARFID and other eating disorders can be challenging, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

What We Offer

  1. Therapeutic Support: My approach includes therapeutic support to address the psychological aspects of eating disorders, helping you build a healthier relationship with food.

  2. Telehealth Services: For those who cannot attend in-person sessions, I offer comprehensive telehealth consultations to provide support and guidance from the comfort of your home.

  3. Specialised Expertise: As a dietitian specialising in ARFID and eating disorders, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our practice. I am dedicated to staying current with the latest research and best practices to offer the highest standard of care.

My Approach to Care

At CM Nutrition, I believe in a holistic and neuro-affirming approach to care. This means recognising and respecting the individual experiences and needs of each person I work with. I do not subscribe to a one-size-fits-all methodology; instead, I take the time to understand your unique circumstances and goals.

I am also committed to a non-diet approach, focusing on health and well-being rather than weight loss. My goal is to help you develop a positive relationship with food and your body, free from the pressures of diet culture.
