About ARFID.

ARFID stands for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. It’s an eating disorder that isn’t about weight or body image — it’s about the experience of food itself.People with ARFID often avoid certain foods because of sensory sensitivities (taste, texture, smell), fear of a bad experience (like choking or vomiting), or just finding food overwhelming.ARFID isn’t a choice. It’s real, it’s valid, and it can affect your nutrition, your energy, your social life, and your self-confidence.

  • You often forget to eat or don’t feel hunger cues clearly

How I can help

As a neuroaffirming, non-diet dietitian, I work with you — not against you — to gently expand your nutrition, reduce food-related anxiety, and make eating feel less stressful.I’ve worked with many adults who’ve struggled with ARFID for years and never felt truly understood. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a deep understanding of how ARFID interacts with things like autism, ADHD, and anxiety.I won’t push foods on you. I won’t shame you. And I won’t tell you to “just try it.”Together, we’ll find practical strategies that work in your life — whether that means building structure, finding new safe foods, navigating eating out, or improving variety and nutrition over time.

What working together can look like

In our work together, we might:

  • Identify and work around your current safe foods

  • Explore gentle food exposures (only if/when you’re ready)

  • Find ways to improve nutrition without drastic changes

  • Manage overwhelm, forgetfulness, or executive function issues

  • Work on routines that make eating easier and less draining

  • Support other areas like gut health, iron intake, or social eating challenges

Who I work with

I mostly support adults with ARFID, including those who are also neurodivergent (autistic, ADHD, or both), or navigating other eating disorders like binge eating or disordered eating patterns.You don’t need a formal diagnosis to reach out — just a sense that something’s not working for you, and a willingness to work on it together.
